Living free from pain means you must have healthy bones and joints to remain active and mobile. Unfortunately, injuries or accidents can happen, or simple wear and tear can hinder joint functionality over the years. Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital’s board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeons specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system: your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and connective tissues. We use the most up-to-date technology and digital imaging studies to diagnose and treat orthopedic conditions and offer rehabilitation services like physical therapy to manage them.
A total joint replacement (TJR) is a surgical procedure where parts of a damaged joint are removed and replaced with a metal, plastic or ceramic device called a prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to help the patient have normal movement without pain. This surgery can be performed on the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow and ankle.
With new implant designs and improved surgical techniques, total joint replacements can last many years, however, some procedures or implants fail, loosen or wear over time. When this happens, a revision surgery may be necessary. A joint revision is a surgical procedure that replaces all or part of the original components of a TJR. Ohio Valley is proud to partner with a fellowship trained revisionist surgeon.
