New Patient Story

My mother suffered a massive stroke in July, 2020. Her communication abilities were severely affected, but physically she was doing moderately well. However, on January 23, 2021, she slipped and suffered a significant ankle sprain. Unfortunately, the orthopedist treating her did very little to promote her recovery and did not suggest physical therapy until Spring of 2021, after she had dealt with pain and swelling for months. We chose Ohio Valley Physical Therapy based on the recommendation of family and friends. Valerie Ryder, as a physical therapist and lymphedema specialist, was a literal answer to prayer. The care, concern, and attention she provided my mother from day one was above and beyond any we had experienced. Valerie fully vested herself in my mother's treatment. Because of Valerie, her ankle is healed, her balance is much better, and she continues to do many of the exercises (even months after therapy ended). Both my mother and I are so incredibly thankful for a provider who diagnosed and treated the physical need, but also connected with the emotional need to know someone truly cared. My mother still struggles greatly with communication, but of one thing she is very clear...she loves Valerie Ryder! In this season of Thanksgiving, we wish to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude. Because of our experience, I have recommended Ohio Valley to multiple individuals, as well as providers. Ohio Valley is fortunate to have Valerie on their team!
